I go to Gateway Middle School in the Everett Public Schools and am in the eighth grade. The reason I am writing to you is that at our school they have taken out the pop machines and juice machines because they are unhealthy. I think this is unfair because we are still allowed to bring and drink pop at school but we can’t have the machines. They’re making it hard on us so we have to go to the store and buy whatever drink we need that we can’t buy at school. I don’t drink pop a lot but sometimes would like to buy one. Now I can’t because some people think we shouldn’t have pop machines at school.
Even though this doesn’t seem important to you, it is important to us kids at school. The reason this is important is because everybody at school enjoys a pop at school once in awhile. Pop just tastes good at lunchtime, if you know what I mean. I also don’t understand why the teachers can still get pop at school.
I think school officials are going to try and make everything at school healthy. Then nobody would buy lunch because they wouldn’t like it. Foods at the snack bar will probably be taken away, such as cookies and other stuff. It’s very unfair and kids at school don’t like it.
