So Paine Field commercial flights are at least a year away yet thanks to federal rules regarding environmental impact assessments. And good old Joe Marine is really going to get his two cents worth (or the whole $250K he set aside for such a moment) in there. It’s really hard to imagine the impact of all those cars and people flocking to get on those six to eight daily flights (with a 60 percent load factor we might see as many as 40 or 50 folks per flight) and they will be just up the road from the transfer station that has dozens of diesel powered garbage trucks going to and from that station daily. Was there an environmental question when that transfer station was erected? But our county executive and his cronies on the council are all opposed to commercial flights in our backyard!
Oh, did anyone notice one of the latest Boeing news releases regarding their Missile Defense Systems move to Huntsville, Ala.? Of course that group is part of St. Louis-based Integrated Defense Systems and has nothing to do with making airplanes. So not to worry about the business environment up our way.
