I’d like to take the opportunity to clear up some rumors, confusion and misunderstandings concerning the Animal Shelter of North County, located in Arlington. The City of Arlington does not own, run or control the shelter’s operations. The City of Arlington is simply a bad landlord concerning the lease. The lease to the building has been extended to Dec. 31. At a meeting earlier this month Mayor Bob Kraski said, “If the building can pass the inspections agreed to, then the city will extend the lease for another 12 months.”
The animal shelter is still in operation. The staff continues to make adoptions, take donations and receive pets. The only difference in our business is that we are operating without the City of Arlington paying for the services they are receiving. I want to assure the citizens of Arlington and the other communities we service that we will not abandon them. Thank you for your support and confidence during these trying times.
