Starving children need our help, too

I see by the morning paper where thousands of pounds of pet food were donated to relieve the shortage of food at the animal shelter. This was front page news. This is a great cause. I wouldn’t want to see animals suffer from lack of food or care. I love animals. The point is, I feel we need more news coverage about the ongoing lack of food and clean water in developing countries.

Every few seconds a child dies from starvation or disease caused by contaminated water somewhere in the world. This adds up to thousands every day. Maybe we as Americans need to make some adjustments in our priorities. The news media could help by giving more coverage about this very urgent world problem.

There are many good organizations that would welcome donations: “World Vision” and Catholic Relief are just two of the ones I like.
