Regarding the Tuesday article, “Father guilty of manslaughter in girl’s death”:
When will we hold the alcohol companies responsible for their crimes against the public like we did the tobacco companies? Do you think that someone who gets drunk on vodka alone while cleaning his gun might be an alcoholic? He certainly wasn’t drinking socially.
If he is an alcoholic, then we would be told that he’s a victim, that he has a disease. What is he the victim of? Alcohol. What is the little girl a victim of? Alcohol. Alcohol is the same killer that kills thousands of innocents on the highways every year in about 50 percent of the accidents. It was at the helm of the Exxon Valdez. It’s the same killer that helps criminals rob, rape and murder.
How long will the public remain sedated on this subject? Your report doesn’t incriminate alcohol at all and neither did the court. The only thing jailing this man will do is keep him dry for 13 years. Meanwhile the real killer will continue at large, killing and maiming innocents.
