How are we supposed to honor our veterans? It seems that if a veteran will oppose George W. Bush, his military record is then scrutinized. That includes not only John Kerry, but Sen. John McCain as well!
Anyone who claims that John Kerry supported or endorsed Jane Fonda clearly does not know what they are talking about, and should probably study their history before making such slanderous statements. Just as those who claim Kerry somehow manipulated his awards of three Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and a Silver Star. I challenge any honorably discharged veteran, who acquired any of the three awards simply by asking for it, to come forward and prove me wrong.
So what if you are a veteran and support Bush. Who cares? To criticize and ridicule our veterans for the sake of winning an election is deceitful, dishonorable to all veterans and is un-American. For Americans to fabricate stories about our veterans, especially war heroes, weakens the very foundation for which we honor our veterans. If this is not true then why should we honor our veterans at all? They will eventually be ridiculed when they run for office or support a candidate others do not support.
If President Bush wants to make changes to our Constitution, here is a challenge for him. Leave the gay Americans alone and instead, make it a constitutional right for veterans not to be ridiculed and lied about with regard to their honorable military service. Make a law so any person who violates this amendment will be charged with treason. This undertaking would truly honor our veterans.
