Less than a month after declaring polar bears a threatened species because of global warming, the Bush administration is giving oil companies permission to annoy and potentially harm them in the pursuit of oil and natural gas.
Are there any brains in Washington D.C. left? Is there no compassion? Seems to me that it would be better to leave the bears alone and save oil by importing and making cars that get 45 miles to the gallon (or better) like they used to in the 1970s! Perhaps smaller, less powerful engines can be dual purpose: Save oil/gas and decrease loss of lives from speeding.
