Do face coverings slip when a grocery employee must bend, push, load, stretch, talk, perspire, reach and lift? Yes, they do. Do some people intentionally wear their masks below their noses? Shame on them, yes they do.
Persons who are triggered by improper mask use and who are unable to control their temper in a grocery store should stay home. Many alternatives to in person shopping exist.
Grocery workers have shouldered a huge burden during the pandemic. They have shown up, put service above fear and borne the brunt of the public’s frustration, fear and anger.
Food supply workers are included in the second tier of the upcoming vaccination rollout not because they are the cringe-inducing “random grocery stockers” referenced in a recent letter to the editor by a triggered individual, but because they are essential workers.
When the uncontrollable urge to correct a stranger’s behavior pops up, use kindness or simply remove yourself from the situation if you can’t control your actions.
