Instead of just reprinting mainstream media news The Herald has a chance to make national news with a story about Helion mentioned in Wednesday’s edition (“State grants Everett-based Helion a fusion energy license,” The Herald, July 31 ).
If Helion is really going to be making power from fusion by 2028 this is a huge story. Countries have been spending billions on this research for decades making some progress but not close yet to making actual power economically. There have been fusion scams in the past so either this project is a scam, or we should be spending billions on their technology. Either way it is a big story. It would eliminate carbon dioxide from current power production. An interview with a physics professor from the University of Washington could be a place to start the story.
