The Granite Falls School District has had a very successful school year. We had many students receive academic honors, which included: a student’s appointment to West Point; SAT scores higher than the state and national average; and ITBS scores that are consistently at or above the 50 percent quartile. Also, the knowledge bowl team took second place in its division, two students were named regents scholars from Washington State University, and three destination imagination teams placed first in the county. Members of the class of 2004 were awarded more than $500,000 in scholarships.
Our student-athletes also had an exciting year that included the following: a student’s fifth-place finish at the state cross country meet; the boys soccer team earned its first trip to the state tournament; a student placed eighth in the 3,200 meters at the state track meet; and the girls basketball team played in the district tournament.
The Granite Falls School District has two of only 16 people in the state to earn the prestigious International Certified Prevention Professional credential. We have three National Board Certified teachers, and an elementary principal who has been published in several national education magazines.
The community showed its support by renewing our program and operation levy last March. Our parents, community members and local businesses support our students admirably. As a member of this school-community team, I want to extend my appreciation for another great year.
