I cannot believe that the Department of Social and Health Services has failed our children again. I am so upset to think that once again they “will investigate” and “there will be reprimands for those that were involved” in the case of the 12-year-old who was abused by his grandparents.
I think all those involved at DSHS need to go to jail – they are all as guilty as the grandparents. Let us, the citizens, be their judge as they all face a trial and begin to rethink how they are doing things. They failed that child and continue to fail our children. Every time they get caught they get their hands slapped and it is business as usual. We need a complete overhaul of the DSHS system. They jump on parents who make a one-time mistake and take the kids out of the home and make it really hard to get them back. But letting a 12-year-old be victimized for six years, all along knowing what is happening in that home, is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.
I think they should send all these people involved over to Iraq for a tour of duty, including the DSHS employees involved. We need to have some hard proof that things will really change because a month from now I can almost bet we will read another sad story of a child beaten or murdered under the watchful eye of our DSHS system.
