The recent shooting at Alderwood Mall points out the need for increased security at all public places. The world we live in has changed. Weapons have become readily available and laws and common sense have not kept up. Mental health services have not been able to keep pace with the needs. Parents are often unable or unwilling to manage their children’s activities.
The cost of “TSA-like” airport screening is high. The cost of allowing innocent lives to be lost is higher! Are there other approaches? Perhaps?
What happened at Alderwood Mall was a tragedy. This crime effects everyone. As the details surrounding this incident evolve, it is hoped that dramatic changes will occur; if for no other reason than to prevent the inevitable from happening again. This incident can’t be ignored. The status quo is unacceptable!
