It is very, very frightening to me as a parent that Ecstasy is the drug du jour among the very young. The connection between depression and suicide and the use of Ecstasy, if it isn’t obvious yet, will become painfully obvious in the near future. According to Narconon of Southern California, studies have shown that, ” … recreational ecstasy users may be at risk of developing permanent brain damage that may manifest itself in depression, anxiety, memory loss, and other neuropsychotic disorders.”
Ecstasy is not prepared by an educated pharmacist. It is simply the road to riches for drug dealers who have not one speck of interest in the long-term health and well being of your child.
Ecstasy is easy to find, it is inexpensive, and it is very often deadly. It has long-term health effects that will undoubtedly result in a segment of our population that will have to be on anti-depressants for the rest of their lives, secondary to incurable depression.
Parents, do yourself a favor. Talk with your kids about Ecstasy. Read up on it yourselves. Understand the dangers of this drug, and the long-term impact it has on brain function.
