Teachers need more support from people

I would like the teaching staff of the Snohomish School District to know that I support them and all the long hard hours they give to teach our students. They are in negotiations now and it is not going well. It seems to me, in these days when we can’t get subs and we have neighboring districts and other states luring teachers with signing bonus and more money, that the district would be bending over backwards to do the same. Snohomish is one of lowest paying districts when it comes to paying subs. Teachers leave every year because they can make more in neighboring districts.

I have had the opportunity to hear many teachers express how they feel about negotiations and it is not good. They feel like they are not being respected and that they are not being listened to. The teachers have asked for very little and the district wants to take and give nothing in return. It is not just about money. Please show your support by telling the teachers that you support them and their efforts.
