In his Dec. 1 letter to the editor (“Corporate greed, a broken system”) Don Curtis nailed the problem — elected politicians favoring corporate interests over the public interest. However, his antidote — term limits — won’t solve the problem, because corporations will simply fund a revolving door of politicians instead of the same old incumbents.
The real problem is the virtually unlimited amount of money pumped into these campaigns and the utter lack of accountability — most donors can cloak their identities — and agendas — completely. Until THAT problem is rectified, we’re stuck with the current situation where big money carries the day.
