It’s sad that the Marysville School District has lost the services of speech pathologist Ellen Muench, as reported in Sunday’s paper. (“Many public school employees are exempt from getting vaccine,” The Herald, Nov. 14) (Muench was one of five employees in the Marysville district to receive non-disciplinary terminations for not complying with the state vaccine mandate or agreeing to testing by the district.)
One cannot help but wonder, however, why she considers it as discrimination, being asked to submit to testing when she does not have symptoms and has not knowingly been exposed to infection. Really?
As a speech pathologist, she is a health care worker and, as such, should be fully aware of asymptomatic infection and transmission. Apparently, she is more concerned about her own self-image than about the possibility of unknowingly being infected and then inadvertently infecting the children with whom she works.
