We read in the newspapers and watch on TV a lot of violence. I thought it was time for a “feel good” story.
I want to thank the Everett Elks for putting on a special prom for the students in the area who are in special education classes.
I have two who attended and what a wonderful time they had. They were all dressed up and were with their friends to laugh and dance without not feeling different or left out.
There was lots of food, a live band, flowers and memories. I think we as a whole tend to forget those of us who are different. I know my older children always attended prom and looked forward to it every year. So why must these other students not have that experience?
It took someone caring to have come up with the idea and it took a lot of people to work and pull it off.
We will be hearing about the dance for a long time. For one Saturday afternoon, Feb. 13, these students felt like they belonged and I can’t thank you enough for making that happen. Thanks so much.
