Tobacco has been shunned by society and rightfully so, but I can’t help but wonder if tobacco is so wrong why is liquor so right?
We fought the use of tobacco products with warning labels, high taxes and our general attitude about the stuff. This is all well and good, but I have never read in the paper or heard on the news that whole families and teenagers were killed in car wrecks by someone smoking too many cigarettes. There are never added patrols put on the highways to spot heavy smokers or organizations formed like Mothers Against Smokers or Smokers Anonymous.
There’s an old country song that says “It’s all wrong but it’s all right” and it applies to the phrase that we choke on a gnat but swallow a cow.
