Herald writer Katya Yefimova begins her July 6 front page article by writing: “Fireworks touched off destructive blazes in at least four homes and caused more than $1 million in damage in Snohomish County over the Fourth of July weekend, officials said.” She continues: “Meanwhile, at least three people, including a 7-year-old boy, were injured by fireworks, fire officials said.”
As a result of the increase in noise from firework detonation to potential and real damage to people and property it is probably a very good idea to officially ban and outlaw the sale and use of Fourth of July fireworks in Snohomish County. Money saved can be spent in traveling to Seattle or elsewhere to watch and enjoy a professional Fourth of July display of fireworks or just watching them on TV.
