Regarding the Monday letter, “That’s quite a lot that our kids owe,” the figure Mr. Hill mentioned was just the deficit for this year. The total national debt is almost $12 trillion. But even that is dwarfed by the total state and local government, corporate and personal debt today.
One of the scariest parts of our national debt is the over three and one half trillion dollars held by foreign governments.
