It’s a bit strong suggesting the folks who took over the Malheur Wildlife Center in Oregon supporting the Hammonds are terrorists. Armed insurrections come to mind though and betting there’s no amendment guaranteeing the right for one to do so. Both father and son understand this, voluntarily holding “we did the crime, we’ll do the time.” Liking it — probably not, like to change it — probably, but it appears they have chosen to work within the system. They also are not in pact with the protesters or their war cry against the government.
These at the very least trespassers, are demanding that national public lands be turned over to whomever, apparently tired of having to pay so much for the use of that land or how they use it. That’s priceless; imagine the nerve of the feds setting fees/uses applying the same free market supply/demand principles these guys live by and apparently, they also want it for free. There’s a manifest difference in how a free government and capitalists approach the free market, one a democracy answering to and for the needs of the people and the other driven by profits, beholden only to its investors.
All agree maintaining a thriving free marketplace is our economic backbone; it’s just how it’s applied and who it benefits. History offers choices; times of private sector excesses with huge wealth gaps and two major economic crashes compared with the more regulated approach sandwiched in between, birthing the so-called American dream for most of us.
