Regarding the Tuesday letter, “Not optimistic about prospects for peace”:
When I read that the writer is relieved that the U.N. had brokered a cease-fire between Israel and Hezbollah, I thought that surely the letter was sarcastic. If anyone believes that the U.N. is the answer, they must be living in a dream world. Show me one instance that the U.N. has resolved any dispute without U.S. or U.K. troops and support. The U.N. is a joke and an embarrassment.
Not to mention Hezbollah is a terrorist organization and Israel has every right to defend its borders and protect its citizens. It is Hezbollah’s sole purpose to kill Jews. The Lebanese government harbors the group and is therefore just as guilty.
How quickly we forget 9/11.
