We enjoy many freedoms and liberties in this great democracy that we live in, but that doesn’t include the right to break laws, rules and directions just because we are competent at what we do.
All organizations have rules to guide and control their employees and I am certain that the Everett teachers’ union has them as well. Does the union allow its employees to blantantly and repeatedly disregard its rules? I think not. So why, then, is it vigorously defending Kay Powers, who has continously done just that, including doing it even after verbally agreeing not to do it? This defense doesn’t make much sense.
If we did not have laws, rules and directives that are to be complied with, this country would be in utter chaos. So, teachers’ union leaders, wake up and smell the coffee. Quit undermining all the good things you do by vigorously defending your union member who is obviously very guilty and did some very bad things too numerous to mention here.
If you be a friend or foe, or a good person or a bad person, it doesn’t matter. If you, after many warnings, continue to disregard and flaunt the laws, rules and policies that you work under, you deserve to be fired and you must be fired.
That, for certain, is the situation in this case.
