Regarding the Wednesday article “Sorrow fills court”:
I am appalled that The Herald would write such a biased article in favor of a young woman who caused her own death on Sept. 11, 2007. This young woman, Ms. Kyla Helvey, chose her own fate that night by drinking a drug that she knew was dangerous, and ultimately killed her. The other two women who were there with her that night are not at fault for Ms. Helvey’s decisions to set aside her own personal responsibility for her health and well-being.
Where does personal responsibility end and others are blamed for one’s actions? In this case, it ended when Kyla decided she didn’t want to display any personal responsibility or restraint and Mallori Smith was in the wrong place at the wrong time with someone who very easily could have been in Mallori’s shoes today instead.
