Last Saturday evening, I experienced an unforgettable holiday event: the Volunteers of America’s “A Christmas Spectacular – The Gift of Music” at the Everett Historic Theater, which was sponsored and produced by Dr. Sanford Wright Jr. I had simple expectations, deciding to go at the last minute in hopes of adding a small dose of “holiday cheer” to my singular life. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised and rewarded with a very special and memorable evening!
The quality of the entertainment was truly “spectacular!” There was something for every musical taste -from opera to swing. The original music and musical talents of Dehner Franks were inspiring! Each singer and musician who participated brought their own personal touch to the performance. And the children from the Imagine Children’s Museum added a special charm that (thankfully) no amount of rehearsals will ever harness.
At the end of the evening, I left wanting more and was able to satisfy my craving with the purchase of Mr. Frank’s CD, who generously offered all proceeds to the VOA cause.
During this holiday season and throughout all months of the year, the organization and good people of Volunteers of America deserve both our attention and any contributions we are able to make. They bring essential support in the form of food, supplies and resources to the many families needing a helping hand in our community. I wish to give a special thanks to Dr. Sanford Wright, Dehner Franks, Brian Tracey and the many volunteers and gifted performers who made Saturday evening a beautiful new holiday tradition for me. We are truly blessed for the gifts they give.
