Vote yes to provide for all the students

I would like to urge voters to vote yes on the upcoming levies and bond issue for the Edmonds School District on Feb. 5.

If anyone has toured our new facilities, it is apparent that the learning environment is much improved in our remodeled or new schools. Our improved schools are proving to be maintenance efficient, more cost effective in utility use and more flexible for learning needs. We still have some schools that need updating or replacing. We need to remodel spaces to accommodate current educational needs. We need to be sure that all schools are as safe as can be in the event of another earthquake. Additionally, some schools need revamping in their heating and ventilation plants or need playground improvements or upgraded interior/exterior lighting.

This is what the bond issue, Proposition 2, will do! All students deserve a safe, clean, efficient learning environment. Over the last 30 years of my involvement, I have seen great strides made in supplying the kids with that environment and making effective use of taxpayer dollars in doing so. It’s now time for one of the final phases to ensure that all areas of the district get equal treatment and all kids enjoy the same chances.

Please vote yes on all issues. It’s a great investment in tomorrow!
