Regarding news that Donald Trump has seemingly acknowledged facts of the prosecutors’ case against the Trump Organization while criticizing charges over “fringe benefits”:
Leona Helmsley, queen of mean, famously bragged to her housekeeper that, “Only little people pays taxes.” Trump famously bragged in a debate with Hillary Clinton that, “He paid so little tax because he was smart.”
I remember when the tax laws were changed in the early ’80s regarding company cars and business expenses. After the law passed I was required by the IRS to keep meticulous records of my business travel mileage. I had to pay tax on any personal use of the car; which by the way include mileage from my home to our offices.
I was also audited several times by the IRS to verify my expenses and mileage.
It seems some well off individuals feel their station in life gives them the permission not to follow the laws us “little people” have to follow.
