I am finding it so frustrating to hear day after day about the possibility of going to war with Iraq, and all of a sudden the news has been quiet about the crisis in the Middle East. Why?
And yet I get regular e-mails from individuals who have gone to Israel/Palestine and have seen with their eyes the terrible violence continuing there on a daily basis by the Israeli occupation forces. Yes, the whole situation is very complicated, and is getting more so by the hour. However, my concern is that the media is not balanced in its reporting of the crisis there.
We hear that “all Palestinians are terrorists.” Yet, through many of our churches, we are hearing personal stories from both Israelis and Palestinians that are crying for the international community to hear the truth of all that is going on.
I would like to send out a plea that all of us, regardless of our religious affiliation (Jewish, Christian, Muslim), use the days ahead to pray earnestly for peace in that land which is called “holy.”
