The hammer has fallen, or at least the City Council of Sultan has spoken: there will be no funding by the city for the Sultan Library in the year 2009. This is not a veiled threat! So, the good citizens of Sultan must step up to the plate and swing for the fences by voting in the March 11 levy to preserve the library.
Sultan is fortunate in having a library housed in a fine building and staffed by responsible and caring employees. A person needs only to step through the door of the Sultan Library to find books to entice the eye and stimulate the intellect. If that is not enough, this person may find a computer to help their search, as well as DVDs and CDs to provide entertainment.
The preservation of the Sultan Library is not a go-it-alone situation. The officials with the Sno-Isle Library System have been fully supportive in providing information to clarify the situation.
Now the citizens of Sultan need to step forward and do their part to preserve this valuable commodity in our community.
