We seem to forget the Bill of Rights

Could someone please explain to me when the general public lost sight of the fact that the government of this great nation is in fact we the people? Can’t anyone but me remember that the laws of the land should still be made by we the people? When did we give the government the right to tell us what we can or cannot do in our own cars, to make the decision for us to wear or not wear a seat belt?

Why is it this same government says they can’t take away the right of anyone to have a say on the Internet even if that person is advertising pornography, a child molester or known sex offender? But, if we forget to buckle up, we become a criminal and are given a ticket with a large fine – all for our own good.

Are we forgetting the Bill of Rights pertains to all people, not just a chosen few? It’s a known fact, we are a nation of over-eaters, so what will come next – spending tax dollars on extra policemen to patrol the restaurants in order to give out tickets to those of us who indulge in that extra helping of dessert?

Somewhere along the way, we the people have lost sight of what the law should really be doing for our own good.
