We were promised no new taxes

I just cannot believe the elected officials in this state can find only one way to fund our local highway projects. What is wrong with them? Do they not remember how fast the Highway 520 floating bridge paid for itself with tolls? Why should every person that drives a car in this state pay for roadways they will never use, let alone even see?

Look at the Eastern states and all of the tollways back there. Tolls pay for the roads and the people that use them do the paying. What is so wrong with that?

Do the elected officials in this state really think that our pockets do not have a bottom at some point? What they are doing is assuring that folks will cut spending in some area to afford the fuel for their vehicles – this in the long run will hurt other areas of the our state’s economy. We were promised no new taxes, and the end result was one of the highest tax increases in a number of years. Voters, you put them in there, now pay the price!
