The U.S. attorney purge scandal is threatening to drown out Scooter Libby’s obstruction of justice conviction, which is papering over the lousy treatment of our wounded troops, which is clouding the fact our government now says it’s OK to torture people, which makes opaque the issue of the military returning wounded soldiers back to Iraq when they’re not even strong enough to carry their own body armor, that in turn obscures the U.S. monitoring our own phone calls and e-mails, which covers up the loss of our civil rights, that dances around the issue of an illegal war threatening to overshadow the U.S. attorney purge.
The circle completes itself. The only thing left for the Bush administration to do is to try to somehow blame Bill Clinton for all this.
