The sight of our president appearing in military garb is beginning to anger me. On one occasion he was addressing the troops of the 101st Airborne returning from Iraq. I was appalled to see him once more in uniform – this time dressed for the occasion in a green military jacket with a name tag which reads “George W. Bush, commander in chief” pinned to his chest.
This president doesn’t seem to learn that people are tired of seeing him dressed up as a soldier. I’m at a loss to understand why he does not understand that the image of our president appearing in military garb is offensive to many U.S. citizens. It is reminiscent of third world governments that are run by the military. Correct me if I am wrong, but I cannot recall any of our major “war” presidents doing this … FDR, Wilson, etc.
