What’s wrong with candidate having support of firefighters?

As I read the multiple letters to the editor regarding local political races I can’t help but laugh. Vote for this person, vote for that person, he or she is the right person for the position! And then there are the bash and attack letters, this person said or did this or that, don’t vote for them. Then we come to the letters that voice support or disdain for those that endorse or support a certain person, including other elected officials, local leaders, labor unions, and individual citizens.

One recent letter claimed that they would support and vote for the “fetter-free” candidate who does not enjoy any support from any special interest group. If anyone can find me that candidate-the one who has no support from any special interest group, conservative or liberal, PLEASE LET ME KNOW and I will gladly vote for that person!

I challenge that there is NO candidate that fits this category, therefore I will vote for the folks who claim to support the things that are important to my family and I. Recently a writer was concerned that Everett mayoral candidate Brian Sullivan was being supported by the Everett firefighters union, alleging some collusion. A recent Gallup poll shows that 90 percent of Americans have rated firefighters trustworthiness very high/high, and that sounds pretty good to me. Good luck Brian, you are fortunate to have the support and trust of your firefighters. Happy voting everyone.
