Regarding the Stanwood School District budget process: It is simply incredible that a $528,387 “hole” showed up in the Stanwood School District budget just four days after our new superintendent took charge!
What a shame that 41 lower-level employees have to take the ax when their combined salaries could have been covered by the salaries and expense accounts of a few of the highest paid administrators. Are they going to be out in the rain supervising the playgrounds and cleaning up the bathrooms? When is the school district going to learn that they should not sign contracts before they know how much money they have to spend? The budget process should come first, to give the taxpayers and students the best value for our education dollars.
