In the Saturday article, “Suicide bombing kills 43 in flood-ravaged Pakistan,” “…the Pakistani Taliban killed at least 43 Shiite Muslims … The assault drove up the toll of sectarian assaults in a country battered by massive flooding …”
Almost incomprehensible tragedies are happening in Pakistan. There are massive losses of: lives, homes, families and livelihoods. There is danger of cholera due to lack of clean drinking water. Especially under these conditions, a person would expect compassion rather than hate and senseless killing of their fellow citizens because of differences in religious practices.
Other tragic incidents occur frequently in Iraq, Iran, Somalia, Sudan, and in other African and Asian countries. Yet there are little or no outrageous cries from people who describe themselves in terms such as being pacifists, peace loving and liberals.
On the other hand, their outrageous cries are reserved for Israelis defending their country and citizens against terrorists and the same types of suicide bombers.
It seems the pacifists, peace lovers and liberals should be deciding issues on the bases of decency and fair play rather than on their prejudices.
