Why do taxes help those with assets?

I met with a man age 75 recently who lives in an adult family home with board and room, $54 per month spending money, car and driver from Lynnwood to North Everett and back once a week for a private one-hour counseling session and has assets including 20 acres in eastern Snohomish County.

The state and our county should offer this opportunity to all our citizens that have abused drugs or alcohol. No amount of taxation is too much to take care of our elderly who have made life decisions that worked out poorly, even if they do have other assets.
