Will district listen or is decision made?

The Marysville School District is proposing closing schools, two of which are Liberty Elementary and Tulalip Elementary. Parents, students and others interested have been invited to voice concerns and opinions regarding these closures. What I want to know is, is this a done deal? Has this already been decided, or do citizens really have a say? I attended the first town hall meeting, but got the feeling we were only invited so school district leaders could pretend we had a voice.

One argument for closing Liberty is kids in the Liberty area live in a needy community and should be branched out to schools where there are better role models. (I can’t quote the statement exactly. I came home and threw the handout in the recycle bin I was so upset.)

If it’s a done deal, and Liberty is being closed so my kids can move to a school with better role models, please tell me now so I can make plans. I imagine home schooling will take a lot of prep.
