Wrong to create more job rules

I read with interest the Wednesday column, “Obama rule assures better pay, more jobs,” by John Burbank which stated the following:

1. A new federal rule on how and how much employers pay workers.

2. The law mandates specific job responsibilities for those exempt positions.

3. Today’s new rule changes the game for Washington workers.

This new rule, approved by the Labor Department, and suggested by President Obama, is troubling because our federal government is dictating more rules to the private sector.

I see Mr. Burbank is executive director of a liberal Seattle non-profit.
