Career: Volpentest is one of the most accomplished parathletes in U.S. history. Born with limbs that cut off just below the knees and elbows, Volpentest set world amputee records in the 100 (11.36) and 200 (22.67) and won gold medals in both events at the 1996 Paralympics.
Postscript: Now 32 years old, Volpentest designs and sells electrical equipment while living in Chandler, Ariz.
