Overcoming the disappointment it felt after losing a first-round game yesterday, the Meadowdale girls basketball team showed it desperately wants to leave Seattle with a trophy.
Meadowdale – propelled by senior guard Eryn Jones’ 25 points and five steals – fought off a pesky Bainbridge team this morning en route to a 72-63 loser-out, consolation-bracket victory.
Jones has scored 48 points in two tourney games this week. She didn’t shoot particularly well from the field against Bainbridge but made all 13 of her free-throw attempts.
Meadowdale (22-5) plays the Fort Vancouver/Kelso winner 9 a.m. tomorrow in another loser-out game. The winner of today’s game advances to the fifth/eighth-place game Saturday.
Fort Vancouver leads Kelso 21-18 in the third quarter. More later …
