I’ve been checking in with more local Class of 2011 student-athletes and their coaches to find out more about the athletes’ college recruiting outlook. Here are a few updates:
*Stanwood High distance runner Minna Fields received a full-ride offer from Lipscomb University. It was the first offer for Fields, who placed second in the 2009 Class 4A state cross country meet. Fields said she will take an official recruiting visit to Lipscomb in September. She hopes to garner offers from other schools and plans to take an unofficial visit to the University of Oregon.
*Edmonds-Woodway High basketball teammates Angela Woods and Sydney Donaldson have both received recruiting interest (but no offers, as of late July) from Seattle Pacific University, E-W girls basketball coach Duane Hodges said. Woods and Donaldson helped the Warriors win the fifth-place trophy at the 2010 4A state tournament.
*Everett High volleyball player Emily Liger has received recruiting interest from Central Washington University and took an unofficial visit to CWU this summer, Everett volleyball coach Heather McLeod said. In 2009, Liger was an all-state second team hitter and was The Herald’s All-Area Volleyball Player of the Year.
