So even though it’s not yet a done deal, it sounds like Steve Sarkisian is going to be the Huskies next head coach.
Obviously hiring USC’s offensive coordinator over a head coach is a gamble for new AD Scott Woodward, and I’m sure he’s well aware of it. If Sarkisian turns out to be the next Jeff Tedford, Bob Stoops, Chris Petersen, etc (none were head coaches before getting their current jobs) then Woodward will look like a genius. If Sarkisian fails, Woodward will always be known as the AD who blew this hire.
Lots of people I’ve heard from aren’t thrilled with this hire, but for now I think the best bet for everyone right is to give it some time. In reality, we won’t really know how good of a hire this was for another three or four years, so even if you don’t like Sarkisian’s hiring now, it may look good in a few years.
Off to the Bay Area for tomorrow’s game (remember, there’s still a game?)
