AL NOTES: Brewers set for doubleheader in Boston with Red Sox

RED SOX-BREWERS: Friday night’s game between Milwaukee and the Red Sox inBoston was postponed because of rain. It was rescheduled as the second game of a day-night doubleheader at 5:35 p.m. today. The starting time for the first game is 12:55 p.m.

YANKEES-METS: Friday night’s Subway Series opener between the New York Yankees and Mets was postponed because of rain. Johan Santana (4-2), who had been scheduled to start for the Mets at Yankee Stadium, was pushed back to Saturday and will be followed Sunday night by Oliver Perez (3-3). The Mets already have a day-night doubleheader Tuesday at Atlanta and didn’t want to schedule another doubleheader for this week. The game likely will be made up in June. It could be rescheduled as part of a two-ballpark doubleheader during the June 27-29 series, when the Yankees are slated to make their final trip to Shea Stadium.

Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez reported no problems with his strained right quadriceps Friday, one day after running the bases for the first time since being sidelined last month. A-Rod is scheduled to play in the first of three extended spring training games today. Barring any setbacks, he is slated to rejoin the team Tuesday.

ALL-STAR GAME: Colorado manager Clint Hurdle selected Mets manager Willie Randolph and San Diego manager Bud Black to be on his staff for the All-Star game.
