KENNEWICK – The Price was right for the Tri-City Americans on Friday night.

Tri-City goaltender Carey Price stopped everything the Everett Silvertips threw at him, and the Silvertips fell 2-0 to the Americans in a Western Hockey League game.

Price made 26 saves for his seventh shutout of the season and second against Everett as Tri-City (23-30-5-3) handed the Tips (28-24-7-2) their second straight loss.

Jarrid Dowhay scored in the first period for Tri-City and Marcus Jonasen added an empty-net goal midway through the third period, the Silvertips getting burned as they pulled their goaltender early in search of the tying goal.

Michael Wall finished with 22 saves in net for Everett, which now leads Portland by just one point for second place in the U.S. Division.

Tri-City took the lead at 4 minutes, 41 seconds of the first period when Dowhay put in a rebound for the first goal of his WHL career. Everett had a golden opportunity to tie it up late in the period with 50 seconds of five-on-three, but the Tips were unable to get anything past Price.

After an uneventful second period, the game heated up midway through the third period when Tri-City defenseman Shawn Belle took a slashing penalty at 7:49 and Everett coach Kevin Constantine chose to pull Wall for an extra attacker, giving Everett a six-on-four skater advantage.

However, the tactic, which has worked for Everett in the past, backfired when Jonasen intercepted a pass, broke free and scored into an empty net at 8:59.
