EUGENE — Marco Luciano hit a grand slam and Eugene Emeralds pitching held the Everett AquaSox to just four hits in a 6-1 win on Tuesday night to open the six-game series.
James Parker hit a solo home run in the second inning to stake Everett to an early 1-0 lead.
But Luciano’s blast in the third put the Emeralds in front and Luis Matos added a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh for some insurance.
Charlie Welch had two hits and Trent Tingelstad provided the only other base hit for the AquaSox.
Juan Mercedes started on the mound for Everett (56-64) and allowed four runs on three hits in five innings. Mercedes struck out two and walked four.
Matos had two hits and Jake Wong struck out six in 4.2 innings pitched for Eugene (72-46).
