EVERETT — The response was quick and forceful from the Everett AquaSox on Wednesday night at Funko Field.
Everett scored 10 runs in the first three innings and the AquaSox rebounded from a shutout loss in Game 1 to shut out the Vancouver Canadians 10-0 in Game 2 and evened the best-of-5 Northwest League championship series at a game apiece.
Ben Ramirez delivered the first blow with a three-run home run in the first inning, and Victor Labrada provided the early knockout punch with a grand slam in a six-run third inning for Everett.
Ramirez finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored. The AquaSox had eight hits and drew nine walks in the game.
Raul Alcantara was equally as dominant on the mound for Everett. Alcantara allowed no runs on just four hits in five innings and struck out eight to earn the win. Bernie Martinez, Jarod Bayless, Peyton Alford and Leon Hunter Jr. each tossed a scoreless inning in relief.
Cade Doughty had three of the Canadians’ seven hits, including a double.
The series next shifts to Vancouver with Game 3 scheduled for Friday night at Nat Bailey Stadium. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
