NOTES

Buhner watch: AquaSox manager Terry Pollreisz said he hasn’t heard anything from the Seattle Mariners about the possibility of outfielder Jay Buhner performing a rehab option at Everett. “All I know is what I read in the papers,” Pollreisz said. “Mike Goff (M’s coordinator of instruction) is here this week and he hasn’t heard anything, either. When they want me to know they’ll tell me.” Reports out of Seattle Tuesday had Buhner doing rehab options at Tacoma and Everett the rest of this month while the two M’s minor league affiliates were at home. The AquaSox begin a week-long road trip Friday while Tacoma begins an eight-day home stand. Tacoma goes on the road Aug. 18, the second day of a five-game Everett home stand.

Must be a Leo: AquaSox first baseman Greg Dobbs extended his hitting streak to nine games Tuesday. Dobbs, who is hitting .520 for August., is batting .447 (17-for-38) during the streak with seven doubles, a triple, a home run, eight runs scored and three runs batted in.

Double trouble: Two teams have given the AquaSox fits this season. They are winless against Tri-City (0-5) and Vancouver (0-6). Their eight-game losing streak last month began with five games at Tri-City followed by three home losses to Vancouver. They are 22-14 against the rest of the Northwest League.
