EVERETT — Roman Miller has done so much for Archbishop Murphy athletics, the school decided it was time to do something for Miller.
In a surprise ceremony Monday, Archbishop Murphy announced the dedication of baseball venue as “Roman Miller Field.” A plaque and sign were unveiled at the field.
Miller is a 1944 graduate of O’Dea High School. He later taught and coached at O’Dea, before serving as athletic administrator at Seattle University. He was a scout for the Houston Colt-45s (later the Astros) and served on the state horse racing commission.
Mr. Miller is affectionately known as the “godfather” of athletics at Archbishop Murphy. He received an athletic “letter” from then-athletic director Terry Ennis in October 2005 to show the school’s appreciation for Miller’s dedication and devotion to Archbishop Murphy athletics.
