Rick Stubrud has been hired as Archbishop Murphy High School’s athletic director, the school announced Friday.
Stubrud became Murphy’s interim head football coach this past season after the Sept. 12 death of his brother-in-law, Terry Ennis. Ennis had been Murphy’s head football coach and athletic director until his fight with cancer forced him to give up the latter role.
Stubrud has 34 years of experience in education. He recently retired from the Renton School District, where he served as athletic director for a year.
Stubrud started his coaching career in 1973 at Sunnyside High and later was head football coach at Hazen High (1983-1998). He served as Hazen’s principal from 1998-2005.
